Instruments of Poor Quality; to be avoided:

This list reflects only my opinion regarding these instruments.  They appear in no particular order.

1. Anything made in China.
2. Anything purchased from Sam's or Wal-Mart.
3. Anything purchased from Hastings.
4. Anything purchased from Sears, JCPenny, KMart, or any other retailer that does not specialize in the sale and maintenance of band instruments.
5. Iolite
6. Barclay
7. Simba
8. First Act
9. Lark
10. Palatino
11. Reynolds - years ago this was a quality brand but I think the name is now owned by JCPenny and I'm dubious about the quality of these instruments.
12. Xinghai
13. Any COLORED trumpet (Red, Blue, Black, etc.) It's just a sales gimmick to get you to buy.
14. Machiavelli - I've not played one of these yet, but judging by Ebay and the Machiavelli website (www.themachiavelli.com) I would make an educated guess that these instruments are crap.
15. Jean-Baptiste
